A woman who was charged with selling illicit liquor that caused the death of eight people in Ruiru five years ago has been sentenced to death. Judge Jessiet sentenced Jennifer Wanjiru following the deaths in 2011 after consumption of the alcohol she sold to them. She faced eight counts of murder but was found guilty for the deaths of five people. The judge found that the illicit liquor was laced with ethanol and methanol with levels that were lethal hence causing the death of the five. The judge also noted that as a result of the illicit brew many others were hospitalized.
