Paul Maina from Nyeri County and Nancy Jebet were crowned winners of the 2016 Safaricom Mombasa international marathon held early Sunday morning in Mombasa. The 31-year old Maina took charge of the men’s 42km category race which he dominated to win in a time of 2:12:13 followed by Samson Bor in a time of 2:12:50. Declerk Omari closed the top three in a time of 2:12:79.in the 42km women’s race, it was Nancy Jebet who endured the coastal city humidity to win in 2:40:01, ahead of Sheila Chebet in 2:44:09. Winnie Frida came in third to finish in 2:44:25. Mombasa marathon is one of the Safaricom series events, the Safaricom athletics series will next move to Eldoret for the Ndaalat Gaa cross country race set 15th October.
