The county government of Tana River has called on the national government to abide by the court order that outlawed the presence of the Tana river development authority irrigation project in Gamba area, Tana river. On 14th September the environmental land court in Malindi issued a permanent injunction ordering Tarda, its employees or contractors from accessing or carrying out any activities on the said land. Tana River governor Hussein Dado has stated that the Tarda project was operating in a cartel-like manner with zero benefits to the locals.
