Former trade Unionist and Nyakach MP Dennis Akumu is dead. Akumu died early today at Aga khan hospital in Nairobi where he had been hospitalized for some time. The 83 year old Akumu served as COTU secretary general between 1969 and 1975. News of his death has shaken both politicians and trade unionists who described him as an astute defender of workers’ rights.
