Spotlight 2017: Eye on Eugene Wamalwa's Nairobi gubernatorial bid
4th August, 2016
The endorsement by a section of MPs from central Kenya and subsequent declaration by water cabinet secretary Eugene Wamalwa to contest Nairobi County’s governorship has caught many by surprise and is now raising political tension in the jubilee wing. Some Nairobi county MPs allied to jubilee have said a big no to Wamalwa, claiming he is a project and an outsider, whereas other MPs from the luhya community claim its part of a political agreement which jubilee must fulfil. As KTN’s Duncan reports in tonight’s episode of spotlight 2017, there are also murmurs that Wamalwa is being fronted by deputy president William Ruto against President Uhuru Kenyatta’s wishes.
