UN warns sudan’s president over appointment of new vice president

A day after south Sudan president Salva Kiir replaced Riek Machar as vice president, there are fears that the peace deal between the two factions has been broken and that the country could spiral into an all time war. The United Nations has warned Kiir that any political appointments must be consistent with a peace deal that ended nearly two years of civil war. Machar remains missing from juba as the government moved to dismiss contents of a letter reportedly sanctioned by president Kiir for the elimination of Machar.
