Catherine Muturi-Wairi has been confirmed as the Managing Director of the state run Kenya Ports Authority. Mturi-Wairi, who was in acting capacity takes over the leadership of KPA after undergoing what was termed a rigorous selection process. Muturi who has a background in finance took over after former MD Gichiri Ndua was sent packing alongside other high ranking managers as part of reforms to seal alleged leakages and shore up customs tax receipts from the port of Mombasa. She will be tasked with overseeing key projects as the port of Mombasa looks to modernize and become more competitive, such as the 28 billion shilling second container terminal
