A man is seeking the three legislators charged with hate speech from being in the IEBC dialogue team

29th June, 2016

A man has moved to court seeking to bar three legislators who were arrested over hate speech from being included in the IEBC dialogue team. Henry Kioki has petitioned the court to stop Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama,Gatundu South Mp Moses Kuria and Suna East Mp Junet Mohammed from being part of the 14-member joint select committee that is expected to unlock the IEBC impasse. In his application, Kioko argues that the three have been charged in court with hate speech and incitement to violence hence cannot be relied upon to make informed decisions on the electoral body. The three are among eight legislators who spent three nights in police cells a fortnight ago over hate speech.
