A unique Wanga burial of an elder while sitted like the Nabongo Mumia
9th June, 2016
It is a practice that is said to have been started by Nabongo Mumia of the Wanga. And has since been copied by other sub-tribes of the Luhya community: burying prominent persons in a sitting position. Peter Gisienya a chairman of elders in Ikolomani was buried seated as required of a tradition deeply rooted, and as KTN’s Dorcas Wangira reports, even the church could not interfere with it.
