In Nairobi county, the demonstrations were largely peaceful even though tension reigned in parts of the city. Many streets were deserted for a good part fo the day and police who had in the past intercepted protesters with teargas and batons remained calm as CORD principals led the demonstrations in the central business district. But as Chris Thairu now reports, CORD is threatening to stage daily protests in the next two weeks if no solution to the standof is found.
