National athletics trials enter day two with winners set to represent Kenya in Durban

The national athletics championships trials entered day two on Friday at the Kasarani stadium with competition getting tougher in various events. 10,000 meters all Africa games champion Alice Aprot led from the start to emerge victorious clocking 31 minutes 40.9 seconds ahead of Jackline Chepng’eno and Joyline Chepkosgei who finished second and third respectively. In the men’s 1500 semifinal, Timothy Cheruiyot picked from where he left in day one to cruise to the final which will be held on Saturday. Abednego Chesebe and Mark Bett also qualified while Vincent Leting led the second semi- final.
