One on One with Ahmednassir Abdullahi on matters Judges retirement age

Kenya could be staring at a constitutional crisis in the Kenyan judiciary after the Supreme Court swiftly suspended orders by the court of appeal requiring deputy chief justice Kalpana Rawal and suspended Supreme Court judge Philip Tunoi to retire at 70 years. Supreme Court judge, Justice Njoki Ndung’u has issued conservatory orders allowing Rawal to continue serving pending hearing of her appeal on 24th June 2016 at the Supreme Court. Earlier in the day, the court of appeal had ruled that Justice Kalpana Rawal and Justice Philip Tunoi should proceed on retirement.
