22nd May, 2016
There was drama on the streets of Eldoret when police lobbed tear gas canisters at street children who dumped a body at the county headquarters gate. Police in conjunction with county askaris used whips and batons to disperse the street children who were protesting against the killing of one of their own. The teenagers had accused the county askaris of killing one of their own and later dumping the body at the nearby Sosiani River. Transport to and from the town was disrupted in the ensuing running battles. Other reports however indicate that the deceased died as he tried to cross the river.
