Former Cross country medalist Langat eyes Rio Olympics 5000M Gold

12th May, 2016

Former world cross country silver medalist Clement Lang’at has joined the group of athletes building up for the Rio Olympic Games. Langat hopes to qualify and represent Kenya in the 5000m race. The japan-based athlete has shifted his training base from japan to Kenya until the end of the Rio Olympics. Lang’at who won the 2012 Africa cross country championships title has been out of competition due to an injury that forced him out of the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Kenya last won a gold medal in 5000m at the 2005 world championships in Helsinki and Lang’at believes that if the correct strategy is laid out, Kenya will strike the gold in Rio.
