15th January, 2014
Kenya defense forces have arrived in Baragoi in Samburu county for disarmament exercise as well as to ensure security in the area. The Kdf deployment comes just days after deputy president William Ruto declared that the government will put in place all means and forces to ensure security is restored in prone areas. The Kenya defense forces in Baragoi will be Nkorishei and Kambi nyoka as their main strategic operational base. Barargoi has had a series of attacks said to be conducted by armed bandits. The forces are to track down the bandits and recover all the illegal guns and ammunition. Last year bandits ambushed and killed forty two police officers in Suguta valley and snatched forty two guns.
