Kenya National Aids Control Council, NACC, peaks on HIV at risk populations
2nd July, 2013
The public and the health sector need to engage with at-risk populations if the country is to see a generation free of hiv and aids. Statistics provided by the national aids control council for the year 2012 show that thirty-three per cent of new infections occurred outside of heterosexual relations. At-risk populations identified include men having sex with men, injecting drug-users and male and female sex workers. These groups have in the past been denied access to healthcare owing to the fact that their activities are deemed illegal.
