Street girls rehab in Nyeri

Women and girls constitute the majority of poor people in Kenya and for majority of them when the going gets tough they turn to the streets for survival. Girls on the streets live with the constant threat of rape, physical abuse, and forced prostitution. But a group of former street girls in Nyeri have turned their lives round thanks to a rehabilitation program that caters for the needs of street girls in Nyeri. The street girls meet once a week and encourage each other on how to make the best of their new lives. Carol Nderi met the street girls and brings us the story.
