Tata in Kenya

Tata group is drawing up an expansion plan for Africa through its various business verticals which will include setting up an assembly plant in Kenya. The group which operates in the continent as Tata Africa says it will be looking for local partners to set up the assembly plants. The group is also eyeing north African country Tunisia for a similar venture. The assembly plant plans though still at initial stages is expected to focus on small, light and medium commercial vehicles. At present Tata motors has a commercial vehicles assembly plant in South Africa. The decision to set up a plant in Kenya will add up to the growing local assembling by Asian based auto firms with Toyota having set up one in February.
