Farmers in Machakos county embrace high yielding seeds, land practices are slowly changing

With giant corporations gaining control of the seed market globally, local seeds have been painted backward, less productive, and disease-ridden. The narrative, however, has flipped for farmers in Machakos county who are now increasing yields through planting indigenous seeds. Among those farmers is Peter Nzioka who argues that indigenous seeds are more nutritious than hybrid seeds.
