mbu West Sub-county Police Commander Charles Kinyua said police arrested the relative of 30-year-old Kevin Mugambi at Karurina Village in Embu West Sub-county of Embu County. Kinyua said after investigations are complete the suspect will be arraigned in court and charged with defilement. “We have arrested the man and investigations are ongoing and will be arraigned in court to face charges of defilement,” Kinyua said. Kinyua noted that cases of defilement were reported late hence affecting collection evidence. He urged residents to report such cases as soon as possible. He urged parents to take care of their children while at home and know their whereabouts all the time. “We have rescued the said minor and will be taking him to children's department,” Kinyua added. When we caught up with the minor before police swung into action the little boy broke down as he narrated how he had been defiled on several occasions. He said his relative who works at a quarry threatened him with dire consequences if he dared let anyone know what has been happening. The minor said he had difficulties in passing the stool after the incident. “I could not stand and only able to relieve my long call while standing as it was very painful,” the boy said as he sobbed. A resident of Karurina village where the incident happened informed members of the media police. “I am very saddened by this incidence and I call upon the police to protect our children who are vulnerable,” a resident said A guardian who lives with the boy after her mother abandoned him said he suspects the boy is somehow retarded as he goes missing 2 to3 days and he is left looking for him. The boy said he has been molested and bullied on several other occasions.
