GUARDED CORRUPTION: How much money do police collecting bribes make from matatus daily?

4th May, 2022

The vice of police collecting bribes on our roads has been ongoing for a long time. They seem to stop at nothing to get their share for the day.
Sting operations by officials from the ethics and anti-corruption commission did little to stop it and so did the much-publicised vetting of the men in blue.
KTN News through hours of secretly filming of the officers taking bribes on the different roads in Nairobi gives a sneak peek into this organised crime and reveals just how much some of the matatu Sacco’s lose to the officers.
Police however say the issue is not just about them taking bribes but also the Matatu owners and the vehicles that are on the road.
