Plans are underway to start listing rent defaulters at the credit reference bureau. The urban landlords and tenants association of Kenya says the process will start as soon the association gets the go ahead. 

The move is meant to curb the rising cases of rent defaulting thus occasioning losses to tenants. 

The association argues it has resorted to this since some landlords have been using crude means to recover their dues from crafty tenants. 

Once listed in the credit reference bureau, it automatically becomes difficult for the defaulter to access any credit facilities.
