Why Kenyan oil may be a recipe for disaster: Experts

9th June, 2018

Stakeholders around the oil and gas sector have expressed concern over lack of safety and emergency measures as the country started transporting crude oil from Turkana to Mombasa.

They have noted that since oil drilling started in Turkana a special emergency team to deal with any disaster was not in place as per the International Laws. This came barely a week after the first trucks with crude oil arrived in Mombasa from Turkana after a road journey of over 800kms.

According to the Australia Africa energy and minerals institute (AAEMI) there was urgent need to put in the safety measures as the transportation process continued.
