More than three million children in the IGAD zone and the Horn of Africa could drop out of school due to starvation and famine. speaking in Nairobi during a crisis meeting over drought in the region, delegates from IGAD member states and international donors, highlighted the need for urgent intervention. Meanwhile, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, says the government has put in place a multi‑agency team that will enhance immediate and urgent interventions in the famine‑ravaged counties to save lives.
