Gachagua Names Alleged 'Killer Squad' as Pressure Mounts Over Kenya Abductions

4th September, 2026

The opposition has accused the Kenya Kwanza administration under President William Ruto of responsibility for the alleged abductions and attacks targeting members of the media fraternity.

Politicians from the DCP and Wiper Patriotic Front parties claim the government is increasingly concerned about scrutiny over its actions and alleged treatment of Kenyans who criticise the administration.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has also alleged the existence of a security unit he believes is behind a series of abductions. The opposition is now demanding accountability and greater protection for journalists amid growing concerns over media freedom and safety.
