16th December, 2025

Climate activist Truphena Muthoni has been appointed an ambassador for Kenya’s ambitious 15 billion tree planting campaign, President William Ruto has announced.

The 22-year-old earned the role following her recent record-setting feat in which she hugged a tree continuously for 72 hours to promote environmental conservation.

President Ruto revealed the appointment at State House, Nairobi, where he hosted the young climate champion and praised her dedication to environmental advocacy and youth-led climate action.
