''No cover up.''' Traffic boss denies claims of shielding a son to a top cop over a tragic accident

4th December, 2021

Police are denying reports that there is an attempt to cover up a tragic accident allegedly involving the son of Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai. Nairobi county traffic commandant Joshua Omukata says the police are still probing the accident caused by one David Mwendwa which claimed the lives of two people, a Boda Boda rider and his pillion passenger. The third person suffered serious injuries and is currently hospitalized at Nairobi Hospital. According to the traffic boss, Omukata, Mwendwa who was driving the Toyota double cabin has already recorded a statement with the police and was released on a Ksh 20,000 cash bail. The traffic police boss says the matter is still under active investigation to find out whether Mwendwa was drunk at the time of the accident.
