Chief justice Martha Koome has for the first time openly castigated the president over his refusal to appoint some six judges nominated by the judicial service commission and revealed that she did not know the reasons for the president’s reluctance to appoint the judges. According to the chief justice, the law was clear, that the president must appoint all those recommended by the JSC. And as Brian Otieno reports, the CJ also faulted parliament for allocating judiciary meagre resources.
