From Bad to Worse: Executive & Judiciary war to escalate following Uhuru's Madaraka Day Sentiments

2nd June, 2021

President Uhuru Kenyatta's Madaraka Day Sentiments construed as against the Judiciary has only helped worsen the already strained working relationship between the Executive and the Judiciary. The attack came less than 12 days after the swearing-in of chief justice Martha Koome. The continued bad blood between the 2 arms of government will further affect the working relationship between the president and the new CJ as the judiciary fights to assert its independence. And as Chris Thairu reports, the judiciary has already cautioned the executive against interfering with its independence and that they will be making determinations as per the constitution and without any favor.
