Car Grant Bombshell: Sh.2M car grant advanced to MCAs will now be subjected to a 30% income tax

The two million shilling car grant advanced to members of county assemblies just before they passed the BBI bill will now be subjected to a 30 per cent income tax. In a letter to the chairperson of council of governors, Martin Wambora, Kenya Revenue Authority commissioner for domestic taxes, Risper Simiyu, says the car grant falls under income earned under other employment allowances, which according to the law, must be subjected to relevant tax regime
