in a quest to see every Kenyan gain access to clean and safe water, the national government now says works on the multi-billion shilling northern collector tunnel is on course. the collector tunnel which is located in murang'a county is set to boost water supply into the capital Nairobi which has been rocked with spates of water outages and perennial rationing thus hurting livelihoods and further raising the cost of doing business in the city. speaking during an inspection tour by the development implementation cabinet committee, water cabinet secretary Cecily Karuki exuded confidence in the project citing will be completed by April 2021. the northern collector tunnel phase 1, comprises kigoro water treatment plant and raw and treated water transmission pipeline in murang`a are tipped to boost water access significantly once they are complete.
