Hundreds thronged the Mkupe creek to witness this year’s annual Jomvu boat racing competitions

Hundreds of Jomvu residents thronged the Mkupe creek to witness this year’s annual Jomvu boat racing competition. The historic event organized by the Jomvu constituency Cdf attracted 6 beach management unit teams from the constituency who battled out for the winner title. Ngare bmu were crowned the winners and were awarded medals and cash prize of kshs 30,000, mikindani bmu came second winning cash prize of 20,000 with Jomvu bmu coming in third. This year’s competition also attracted the participation of a team from the Kenya navy who displayed their skills for the spectators. Area Mp Badi Twalib said the competition is also aimed at preserving and celebrating the local culture considering that most of the residents and participants are fishermen.
