In a sad twist of fate a 33 year old woman died in Mombasa after the car she was driving plunged into the Indian ocean at kibarani area. The woman who was in the company of her 12-year-old son, is said to have been speeding from changamwe towards Mombasa island when the accident occurred. According to the police report, the deceased was using the outer lane and overtook a motorcycle before hitting a pavement, plunging into the sea. Rescue efforts began in earnest to save the two. The boy managed to swim to safety but his mother was not so lucky. She was pulled out of the wreckage but pronounced dead upon arrival at the coast general hospital.
