COTU boss Francis Atwoli intervenes as Finlay plans to lay off 719 tea workers

The Kenya plantation and agricultural workers’ union (kepawu) has obtained orders restraining James Finlay’s limited from terminating employment for over 700 tea estate workers until a case is heard and determined by the court. The Kericho based firm had issued a notice to 702 employees announcing its intentions to declare them redundant citing a difficult business environment and a decline in demand for its products.
