The planned lifting of the 26?year?old caveat that prohibited individuals from owning land at the eastern Mau forest and the subsequent issuance of land titles to bona? fide land owners is now taking a different turn, with a section of residents living in various informal settlements in Njoro and Molo now seeking to be enjoined in the titling process. Speaking in Njoro, Nakuru county during today’s mashujaa day celebrations, area leaders said that while it is in good faith that titles are issued for those currently in the Mau, persons who had previously been evicted from the forest with no compensation should also be considered.
