The government has set up a 15 member inter?faith council on the national response to the coronavirus pandemic. In a special gazette notice issued jointly by the ministries of health and the interior and coordination of national government, the inter?faith council will be chaired by the most (rev.) Archbishop Anthony muheria. the council which unlike similar committees set up in response to the COVID 19 pandemic will regulate its own procedures and is only answerable to President Uhuru Kenyatta will be mandated to develop protocols for:
the phased reopening of places of worship, progressive
resumption of in-person congregational worship, the
celebration of weddings and other religious ceremonies
as well as to conduct religious funerals and
graveside/crematoria last rites and send?off.
the council will also develop a programme for public
sensitization and capacity building for all religious
leaders and develop a prioritized implementation matrix
that clearly states the dates for re?opening and the
applicable capping of numbers.

the 31st of December 2020 are:
