The government has maintained that there is no demand by the Lake Turkana Wind Power Company Ltd for the payment of 9.6 billion shillings. Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter says the company was paid 5.7 billion shillings in penalties for failing to connect power to the national grid in breach of contractual terms. Appearing before the Senate Committee on Energy, Keter told the committee that the company has not demanded any further payment.
