The hearing of an appeal against the conviction of former Nairobi town clerk John Gakuo and three others failed to kick off following the death of the former town clerk yesterday.  

Gakuo’s family lawyer says the family will continue with the appeal in?order to clear his name even in his death.  The hearing failed to start as it emerged that the star witness in the case whose statement largely informed the conviction of Gakuo and three others had recanted his statement.
