Murder suspect Mohammed Hussein Aden allegedly tortured by the state

4th September, 2018

Mohammed Hussein Aden, the key suspect allegedly involved in the attempted murder of former Garissa finance executive Idris Muktar was today arraigned at the Milimani law courts. His family had filed an application seeking to have him presented in court on claims that he had been tortured after arrest and required medical attention. Deputy registrar faith Muguongo directed that Aden be taken to Kenyatta national hospital for medication before a scheduled inter parte hearing set on September 6th. Through his lawyer Cliff Ombeta, the family also wants the 15 days given to the state by a magistrate court to complete investigations reviewed saying they were given in the absence of the suspect. Last week, David Mwai Wanjiku — a key suspect in the shooting– died under unclear circumstances inside a cell at parklands police station. An autopsy report later revealed that he had died as a result of hanging.
