KTN Prime: Scramble for Lamu; Residents are forced to live like squatters, November 2nd 2016

Before the onset of the current Kenyan constitution, land in Lamu County was trust land, meaning no single person could own land. The 2010 constitution turned this into community land, such that 95% of the land was to settle indigenous people. However the onset of development projects such as lappsset has complicated the process of land allocation in Lamu, as people with power and money rush for a piece of this new cake., KTN’s Sharon Momanyi now brings us a special feature, the scramble for Lamu.
