KTN Prime 13th September 2016: Phytosanitary meet Discussing pest threatening crops

The government will step its surveillance at all entry points into the country, making it a requirement for everyone coming into the country to declare any plant or plant material in their possession before being allowed in. this follows the detection of over 233 new pests introduced from outside Africa with approximately 30% of these finds being new insects and mites. 70% of the find were new plant diseases.
