David Rudisha’s victory at the Olympics yesterday set a celebratory mood for Eldoret residents. Moments after winning a gold medal in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, his wife Lizz Naanyu hosted a party for street children in Eldoret to celebrate the achievement. And Rudisha’s coach Bro Colm O’ Connell, who was born in Cork County in Ireland 68 years ago, also decided to celebrate his birthday yesterday and alongside the achievement of the Olympics, medallist who was the toast of the town. “When chips are down and our country needs a hero, we call on King David. And he did it in style. We are proud of him and I am humbled to have played and continue to play the part of a coach and mentor to
