The South Sudan President Salva Kiir and his deputy ordered their loyalists to stop fighting

12th July, 2016

The Kenyan Foreign Affairs Ministry has said there has been no confirmation yet of reports that at least 16 Kenyan truck drivers have been killed in the fighting in South Sudan. The BBC had quoted an official of the long distance truck drivers association saying one driver witnessed the killing of 16 truck drivers in Juba, but the Foreign Affairs Ministry has told Ktn that this has not been independently confirmed. The South Sudan President Salva Kiir and his deputy Riek Machar ordered their loyalists to stop fighting, as the death toll since Friday reached 272. Murimi Mwangi has the details.
