Kenneth Marende and Makau Mutua among the candidates applied for the position of Chief Justice

Sources say former speaker of the National Assembly Kenneth Marende and controversial law professor Makau Mutua are among the 7 candidates who have so far applied for the position of Chief Justice and president of the Supreme Court of Kenya. Other applicants for the position include Supreme Court Judge Dr Smokin Wanjala, court of appeal judges David Maranga and Alnashir Vishram. As Ktn’s Chris Thairu reports, the Judicial Service Commission has extended the application deadline for the position of Chief Justice till Friday this week.
