Uhuru ends CDF row and urges Jubilee MPs to pass budget

23rd June, 2016

Lawmakers from the ruling Jubilee Alliance in the National Assembly this afternoon shocked their colleagues in the opposition when they made a sudden about turn and unanimously approved budget estimates for the 2016/2017 financial year. MPs had previously agreed in an informal house meeting popularly known as ‘Kamukunji’ to postpone the vote to next week until a deal is reached over the release of constituency development funds to lawmakers. President Uhuru Kenyatta and deputy president William Ruto held a crisis meeting with lawmakers from jubilee where the two leaders directed the legislators to approve the budget as a matter of priority.
