Cost of cigarettes will fall if amendments passed by parliament are ascented to by president

The cost of cigarettes will fall if recent ammendments passed by parliament are ascented to by the president. The amendments to the excise duty bill 2015 now state that taxation be based on brand rather that uniform taxation. The amendments introduce an excise tax of between 900 and 2,800 shillings per 1,000 sticks of cigarettes, depending on quality, a move that will favour cheaper cigarettes.
