Two armed robbers gunned down along Mombasa’s CBD

27th February, 2015

Two armed robbers were this afternoon gunned down along Mombasa’s Moi avenue after they robbed a car dealer’s shop along the same street. The two are said to be part of a three-man gang on a motorbike who had made away with loot stolen from the shop. Police say they received information that the three had accosted a business premise within Mombasa CBD. They then encountered the thugs at around 12.30 and asked them to stop. They defied the order and instead engaged the officers in a shootout. A third accomplice managed to escape. Police recovered a ceska pistol with two magazines, each with 12 rounds of ammunition and driving licenses which they suspect could have been stolen from members of the public. Police are still pursuing the third suspect.
