Tragedy has struck a family in Rongai, Nakuru after a man killed his wife, then committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope. Their nine-year-old son witnessed the whole incident and has been left shaken. The parents, Phillip and Hellen Chepkwony, are said to have been engaged in a domestic row early morning, before the father attacked and butchered the mother with a machete. He allegedly then threatened the son with the machete but let him go after he pleaded for mercy. Family and neighbors of the deceased couple say the two did not appear to have had domestic problems. Police arrived at the scene mid-morning and took the bodies to the Nakuru county mortuary.
