Elgeyo Marakwet County residents left in shock as lightning strikes and kills 20 cows

Those at Penon forest station in Kaptagat, Elgeyo Marakwet County were left in shock when lightning struck and killed 20 cows. The animals had been detained by forest warders within their station after being found grazing within the government forest. The cows were found grazing within the gazetted forest by forest guards who were on patrol at the expansive forest on Wednesday evening. The forest guards then drove them to their station to detain them until the owner come to claim them. The Penon forest station manager James Lufwaya said it rained through the night and when they woke up in the morning they found 20 cows dead and only 15 alive.
