Parent sues Rusinga School for suspending a boy with dreadlocks
11th September, 2014
A parent has sued Nairobi Rusinga School for suspending her nine year old son because of his dread-locked hair. According to Jacklin Kamau, her son has had dreadlocks since he was 18 months. Her son joined Rusinga kindergarten in September 2010 with no objection from the administration. She further argued through her lawyer Doreen Mutunga, that the school rules do not restrict children from having dreadlocks even at the preparatory level.
